This is a series inspired by the beautiful, diverse, layered landscapes of Montana. In a single glimpse, landscapes of Montana combine intensely diverse colors, textures, and shapes to create awe-inspiring moments. Each angle is different, each moment the angle of the sun transforms the land into a new and amazing image.
Traditionally, landscapes are viewed horizontally, in a panoramic/wide angle fashion. In these paintings I am taking small, vertical slivers of landscapes and paying equal attention to clouds, the sky, mountains, peaks, fields, rivers, lakes and roads. Instead of a focus on the details, I am focusing on the energy and feeling of the moment. With time, I hope to lose the specific place entirely and to leave the viewer with a simple feeling of beauty.
